Changes of the GHCA Leadership Team

  • Jun Ma, former Director of Parent Relations, will be Vice Principal of GHCS who will be in charge of the administration of GHCS and oversee the whole school management.
  • Welcome Chunming Zhang to the Leadership Team. He will be in charge of Parent Relations.
  • Heng You has been the Principal of GHCS for the last ten years. She resigned recently. However, Heng will continue in the school to help the transition of the new management team and the Cultural Center.
  • Starting from this school year, GHCS and GPCCC management teams will merge as the GHCA (Guanghua Chinese Association) Leadership Team to work together to make our GHCA a better place for our Chinese community.

The GHCA Leadership Team thanks all our previous team members: Youlin Wang, Rong Feng, Lijun Zhang, Yu Zhi, Jiannan Kang and others for their devotion and dedication to our school and our Chinese community. We could not thank them enough for their contributions and efforts and hope more people to join us!

2.       Welcome to the new school year

As we finalize preparations for this school year, growth continues to be part of the GHCS story. As of today, we have over 120 classes. More than 900 students have registered and total enrollment exceeds 1,500. School will have an open house on Sunday, September 9. All of our school management team members will be at the hallway of Parkhouse Hall to answer your questions and meet your needs.

 

To help our students and parents start school smoothly, we would like to share the following information:

a)       Registration: You can switch classes and drop classes freely in the first two weeks. For those who haven’t registered yet, please go to our website to register ASAP. There are a few classes under 6 students. Cancelation of these classes may be announced in the future newsletter.

b)      Textbooks: For new kindergarten students, school will distribute textbooks on the first day of school opening. Teachers of the KG classes should ask a parent to collect the textbook fee and pick up the textbooks at the desk of TEXTBOOK at the hallway. If you ordered your textbooks in the Google Form, don’t forget to pick up your textbook. If you have any questions, please contact Weiqin Luan, This email address is being protected from spambots. c)       Tuition payment: Please pay your tuition on time. You may use paypal online to pay it now. If you would like to pay it by check, please write a check and make it payable to GHCS and drop it at the desk of TUITION PAYMENT at the hallway when school is open. Please make sure to put your family ID number on your check before you deliver your payment.

3.       Early sign-up for the After School Care and No School Day Services for school year 2018-2019

Our Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center (GPCCC) offers After School Program, Early Dismissal Day Service and No School Day Service. If you have school age child and are looking for a good, dependable and fun place for after school care, welcome to our program. Please register ASAP, you will receive favorite rate for early registration.

1).  After School Program: 3:30pm -6:00pm

     Open every school day during school year

2).  Early Dismissal Day Service: 1:00pm – 6:00pm

     11/19, 11/20, 11/21 of 2018;   03/27, 03/28, 03/29 of 2019

3).  No School Day Service: 8:00am – 6:00pm

     08/31, 09/10, 09/19, 11/06, winter break (12/26, 12/27, 12/28) of 2018; 

     01/18, 01/21, 02/15, 02/18, Spring break (04/15, 04/16, 04/17, 04/18, 04/19), 05/21

Transportation:

          We offer transportation from school (listed below) to our GPCCC or the schools within 15 mins distance. Also, the school buses of the Wissahickon School District pass by the Cultural Center, parents either could ask buses to stop by or we are going to negotiate with the school district about this issue.

Promotion Discount:

1.  If you register on or before Sept. 9, you will get 10% discount for the first 3 months’ tuition;

2.  If you are the member of GPCCC, you will get 10% discount and Registration fee;

3.  Siblings will get 10% discount for the older child.

4.  Returned After School Program/No School Day Service Students will get 5% discount

  • How to get into the top colleges by Jen Zhao on Wednesday, Sept 5, 7-9pm at GPCCC Center, 905 Lenmar Drive, Blue Bell, PA 19422.

This seminar will focus on how the student can create their competitive edge by strategically customizing their high school careers, both academically and extracurricular-wise. It will further discuss the college application process and how the student can package their attributes and accomplishments through the essays, resume and interviews in order to stand out. The seminar is led by Jennifer, who graduated from UPenn's Wharton School and has worked on Wall Street in NYC for more than six years.
